Commander's Welcome!
Welcome to the Narragansett Bay Sail and Power Squadron web site! We're glad you found us. Founded in 1914 and chartered in 1933, our Squadron has members throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Explore this site to find out more about our organization, a unit of the United States Power Squadrons. Don't let the name fool you, our members are both sailors and power boaters.
Visit our Meet the Bridge page to get to know the people in charge of our Squadron.
Once you've taken any qualifying course you can apply for Power Squadron membership. We offer courses about all aspects of boating. We also have on and off the water activities for our members. The Squadron offers other benefits, which can more than cover our dues cost.
If you haven't taken a basic boating course, we conduct a four week "Boat Smart" course, open to the public. We only charge to cover the costs of the material you get and the use of the facility. Check our schedule of events for details. If you can't get to our classes, we also offer an interactive CD Rom based course, which also qualifies.
As a public service, we also offer Vessel Safety Checks to the public. Contact us to schedule one for you. VSC is a confidential service to the boating public.
We'd like to include you among our members... So, come on aboard!
David L. Siesel, Commander
